Why We Built InvoiceBolt
The idea behind InvoiceBolt was born out of frustration. As freelancers and independent contractors ourselves, we noticed a persistent barrier to starting a business: basic administrative tooling was becoming heavily commercialized. Simple tasks like generating an invoice or estimating project costs were trapped behind expensive recurring subscription platforms like QuickBooks, FreshBooks, or Zoho. These platforms require mandatory accounts, collect sensitive financial history, and send constant notifications to upgrade.
We wanted to build an alternative—a fast, modern, and completely free online invoice generator. InvoiceBolt allows anyone to open their web browser, enter their business details, list their line items, and export a pixel-perfect, professional invoice in seconds. There is no paywall, no account registration, and absolutely no catch.
